I work full time in private practice with 75% of my time spent in scanning unborn babies and 25% in general gynaecological practice.

Mr Penman is a Consultant Gynaecologist who provides private gynaecology and pregnancy scanning services.

He specialises in the treatment of heavy periods, PCOS, pelvic pain due to endometriosis or adhesions, treatment of infertility and the investigation and management of recurrent miscarriage.

As a specialist in Fetal Medicine he provides a comprehensive pregnancy scanning service using modern equipment producing 3d and 4d scan images.

Areas of expertise
I am a consultant Gynaecologist and Specialist in Fetal Medicine who now work full time in the private sector.  My main area of expertise is in the diagnosis and management of birth defects and complex pregnancies.
Medico-legal experience
I have taken on medico legal cases involving the misdiagnosis / mismanagement of birth defects and complex pregnancies (monochorionic twins etc) as well cases involving the possible cause of birth defects (teratogenicity).
Key publications
I have published articles on a range of topics relating to birth defects and their possible causes (please see publications page on www.fetal-medicine.co.uk).
Court experience
Most recent court appearance was in April 2009 in the case of Corby Group Litigation vs Corby Borough Council.  This case concerned birth defects possibly caused by industrial pollution.
