Mr Gary Ross is a fully accredited specialist consultant plastic surgeon on the General Medical Council's specialist register for plastic surgery. He is a consultant plastic surgeon in the NHS at The Christie, Manchester, a consultant at the BMI Alexandra, Cheshire, and an honorary senior clinical lecturer in the School of Cancer and Imaging Sciences, at the University of Manchester. He runs a cosmetic practice in breast and facial surgery that complements his NHS practice reconstructive practice in these areas. Having qualified in medicine at the University of Bristol he underwent basic surgical training in Australia, Bristol and Plymouth before beginning a career in plastic surgery in 1997. Following experience in the plastic surgery units of Plymouth and Bristol he spent two years in the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit, Glasgow as a head and neck fellow completing a higher doctorate (MD) in head and neck surgery. Following this he completed his speciality plastic surgery training programme in the North West leading to a further qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS plast) and subsequently the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). His fellowships have included the mentor international aesthetic surgery fellowship (King Edward V11 Hospital, Harley Street, London), the North West Aesthetic Fellowship (Chester,Liverool,Manchester) and a 1 year North American plastic surgery fellowship in Toronto, Canada, in head and neck and breast surgery. Mr Ross has become a leading figure in the highly competitive field of plastic surgery. He has published extensively both nationally and internationally comprising over 50 peer reviewed articles and a number of book chapters (including face lifts, brow lifts, blepharoplasty). He has presented worldwide over 200 times many as a key note lecturer and moderator and has organised a number of international conferences and instructional courses. He is actively involved in teaching both undergraduate medical students and postgraduate plastic surgical trainees through his role as honorary senior clinical lecturer. He has received widespread recognition for his charitable work including the provision of plastic surgery expertise following the Pakistan earthquake through the Mobile International Surgical Teams charity.

Mr Ross is a lead plastic surgeon for the Greater Manchester network for skin oncology, breast surgery and head and neck oncology. He is an honorary clinical senior lecturer at the University of Manchester and has published extensively in areas of head and neck, breast and skin oncology. Mr Ross has presented nationally and internationally, often as key note speaker and has organised many international courses and conferences. He has a large cosmetic practice concentrating on head and neck cosmetic surgery, breast surgery and body contouring.

Mr Ross has performed a small number of medicolegal reports and has resisted this practice growing. He is interested in developing this area of his practice.
